Court remands Adeyanju, two other protesters in Keffi prisons  BTS MEDIA  November 28,2018  A Karshi Magistrate Court, Abuja, has remanded an activist and Convener, Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju;  Daniel Abobama and Boma Williams in Keffi prisons, Nasarawa State, for protesting against alleged partisanship by the police. The three accused persons had led a protest to the Force headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday, against the police for sealing the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Tuesday, when they were picked up and hastily arraigned in court. The men were charged with criminal conspiracy, public nuisance, disturbance of public peace, and threat to public security and safety, criminal defamatory and derogatory conduct against constituted authority and breach of law and order under Sections 96, 113, 114, 152, 183 and 391 of Penal Code. ASUU hails court for reinstating sacked Unilorin lecturers BTS MEDIA  November 27,2018  The Academic Staff Union of Universities has commended the National Industrial Court, Akure, for reinstating the sacked lecturers of the University of Ilorin. The affected lecturers were executives of the ASUU in the institution. Both ASUU Chairman, Dr Kayode Afolayan and Secretary, Solomon Oyelekan, were illegally sacked by the authorities of the institution on September 19, 2017. After a year legal battle, the court presided over by Justice Abiola Adewemimo described the sacking as illegal because it contravened due process and the rules of the institution. The judge also chastised the institution for violating the rights of the respondent to a fair hearing, declaring the action of the university as oppressive, dictatorial, tyrannical and a miscarriage of justice.  She ordered the immediate reinstatement of the sacked lecturers and the payment of their entitlements ...

EFCC has frozen all my accounts, I can’t feed my family – Metuh   BTS MEDIA  November 27,2018 A former National Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, told the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Monday frozen all his bank accounts. Metuh, who expressed shock over the development, said he learnt of the no-debit order placed on his account after his failed transaction on one of the accounts on Tuesday. He told the court presided over by Justice Okon Abang that as a result of the development, he could no longer feed his family or buy things as common as water and pain-relieving medicine like Panadol. The party, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Tuesday, in Abuja, said the party’s attention had been drawn to a post circulating on social media, purported to be the PDP’s presidential campaign timetable. President Buhari cancels ‘casual leave’ BTS MEDIA  November 27,2018 President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled his planned five-day “casual leave’’ as a mark of respect for victims of Boko Haram attacks across the battlefields in the Northeast zone of the country. The  News Agency of Nigeria  reports that the President had planned to spend the casual leave at his home country, Daura, Katsina State from November 27 to December 2. The president, according to  NAN,  had earlier cancelled his official trip to Benin City, Edo, where he was initially billed to inaugurate the Edo-Azura Power Plant and grace the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference. Osun tribunal adjourns sitting until Dec. 5 BTS MEDIA  November 26,2018   The Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in the FCT High Court, Apo, has shifted hearing in the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party and its candidate, Sen. Ademola Adeleke until Dec. 5 to enable parties in the matter put“ their houses in order”. The tribunal ordered all parties appearing before it to file and exchange all necessary processes that will facilitate quick hearing of all issues on or before the adjourned date. Justice Ibrahim Muhammad Sirajo, who is the chairman of the tribunal, ordered the lawyers to cooperate with his tribunal to enable it to discharge its mandate within the time allowed by law.
