NLC boss emerges president of ITUC, Buhari congratulates him

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, on his election as President of the International Trade Union Confederation.
ITUC is the largest trade union federation in the world.
The President’s congratulatory message was conveyed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Friday.
The president joined members of the NLC and all Nigerian workers in celebrating the election, which he said had further signalled the great work the union had been doing in ensuring the welfare of workers.
President Buhari expressed the belief that, as the first African to head the ITUC, the labour leader would bring his wealth of experience in persuasion and negotiation to the new position.
The president, who assured the NLC President of the Federal Government’s support, wished him a successful tenure.
President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ayuba Wabba, was on Tuesday in Copenhagen, Denmark, elected President of the International Trade Union Confederation.

Senate okays higher institutions for President’s hometown, nine other BTS MEDIA November 29,2018  The Senate on Wednesday approved the establishment of 10 new higher institutions across the country. The resolution was made after the federal lawmakers adopted the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund. The committee’s chairman, Jibrin Barau, presented the report for consideration. The 10 new higher institutions approved by the Senate include one polytechnic to be located in the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari, Daura in Katsina State. The federal lawmakers agreed that the establishment of the institutions would open up the education space in the country. They also expressed the belief that the step would assist the country to fight illiteracy.
